The Physics of Intuition: How Your Heart “Sees” The Future

We’ve all had that "gut feeling"—a sudden prickle of awareness before the phone rings or a sense of knowing which path to take before the logic adds up. In our culture, we often dismiss intuition as a "pseudo-science" or a lucky guess. However, groundbreaking research in neurocardiology suggests that intuition isn't a mystical gift reserved for the few; it is a sophisticated, measurable function of the human heart’s electromagnetic field.
The most compelling evidence for this comes from "pre-stimulus" studies conducted by the HeartMath Institute. In these experiments, participants were shown a series of random images—some calming, some emotionally jarring. Researchers found that the heart actually responded to the emotional content of the image before it was even selected by the computer. Most remarkably, the heart responded roughly 4.8 seconds before the brain even processed the visual information. This suggests the heart is connected to a field of information that exists outside of our linear perception of time, a kind of intuition called nonlocal intuition by the HeartMath Institute.
Next time you’re standing next to a person, think of the interaction of your energy fields. What information is being processed without you even realizing? Can you register the state of their nervous system (which is directed by the heart)? Current research points to yes. Have you ever stood next to someone who is calm, grounded, and regulated? Or someone who is in a state of crisis? What do you feel? Practice next time you’re in public. Understanding this research is one of the reasons I do my best to send love and safety through my field to every single person I come into contact with. I know that I can influence their state, even if just subconsciously.
This phenomenon is rooted in the heart’s role as the body’s primary electrical oscillator. With an electromagnetic field up to 60 times stronger than the brain’s, the heart acts as a highly sensitive antenna. According to the "Theory of Enfolded Order" by physicist David Bohm—which researchers often cite to explain these findings—the heart may be tapping into a holographic field of information. While the brain is excellent at analyzing the past to predict the future, the heart appears to be "sensing" the present moment’s energetic potential in real-time.
From a psychological perspective, this shifts how we view self-regulation. When we are stressed or out of "coherence," our internal "receiver" becomes filled with static. Judgment, anxiety, and frustration create a jagged, incoherent heart rhythm that drowns out these intuitive signals. It’s like trying to listen to a whisper in a crowded room.
To access our intuition, we don't need to "think harder"; we need to dedicate more of our mental focus on information our hearts are sending our brain. Our nervous system is wired to send more information from our hearts to our brains than the other way around. The information is there, we just need to change our focus from the external to the internal so we can interpret it.
What would happen if you dedicated your mental focus to analyzing the information being sent from your heart rather than the outside world? Would we not get a clearer, more informed understanding of our own experience that would allow us to make better decisions in our lives? Ironically or synchronistically, I’m writing this blog as Mercury stations retrograde for the next three weeks. This is the perfect cosmic cycle to practice rewiring your thoughts and how you process information. I encourage you to dedicate more of your mental energy to connecting and interpreting the messages that your heart is sending you every moment these next several weeks and make it your standard way of living.
By practicing heart-coherence, we aren't just relaxing; we are fine-tuning our biological "radio." When the heart and brain are synchronized, the afferent pathways (the nerves that carry signals from the heart to the brain) open up. This allows intuitive information to flow into our conscious awareness, helping us make decisions that are aligned with our highest purpose rather than our deepest fears.
This is where I talk about my "Utopian" ideal for society. Understanding this topic makes it practical. The equation is every single one of us choosing to channel our heart’s intelligence. Imagine a world where we aren't just reacting to external crises from a place of survival, but responding from a place of intuitive coherence. Imagine a world with heart-centered leaders! When we regulate our individual energy, we gain the clarity to cooperate and solve the challenges facing our collective. Your intuition isn't just for your personal gain—it is a navigation system for our shared evolution.
I invite you to start listening to this "intelligent pulse.” You can consult it in every decision you make, from the food you eat to what to say to a friend. Start by placing your hand over your heart, slowing your breath, and asking a simple question. You might find that the answer doesn't come from your head, but from the powerful electromagnetic field that has been guiding you all along. Make this a daily practice and you will get better and better at listening to your heart.
If you’re seeking support in channeling your heart and understanding how cosmic energy is moving in your life, I invite you to step into my celestial office. I offer $22+ sliding scale 60min sessions designed for self-awareness, heart-connection, and life clarity.
