We measure our lives by orbits around the Sun, AKA years. How old you are is just how many orbits around the Sun you’ve been here in physical human form. Every New Year, we look back over the last orbit and measure what we have materially achieved. The seasons of the year dictate our activities. As the Sun corresponds to the visible, external world, the Moon corresponds to the other world that can only be felt by you—your internal world.

When it comes to manifesting your dreams, the journey has so much more to do with the state of your internal than your external. Think of the wildly successful people in this world and their capacity to feel fear, self-doubt, anxiety, frustration, grief, or any other uncomfortable emotion. The wildly successful people know how to feel these things and move anyway from an identity that aligns with their vision and goals. They never let their fear, self-doubt, or anxiety stop them.

Your ability to reach your potential is equal to your capacity to not just hold these uncomfortable emotions, but welcome them. As the Moon completes an orbit around the Earth every ~29 days (about every month), we have a micro cycle of energy that reflects the macro cycle of energy we experience in a year, and this cycle is oriented towards our inner worlds. We can tap into this cycle to grow and evolve internally every month just as we grow and evolve externally every year.

When you expand your internal capacity to receive, you also expand your external capacity to receive. When you are open and available to more of what’s going on inside of you, you are open and available to more outside of you too. This is when synchronicities happen in your life, and it’s only a matter of time before your external world reflects your internal world.

Every single lunar cycle contains different energy for every person. There are themes and patterns activated based on where the Sun and Moon are moving in relationship to your natal chart. You can align your growth with the Astrological dynamics present in that cycle.

Set an intention for the lunar cycle.
Pick a feeling-based intention to play with and seed during the third quarter to new moon phase (this phase corresponds with fall, when plants typically release seeds to be buried in the soil for the next growing season). What feeling do you want to experience more of in your life the next cycle? Abundance, gratitude, joy, playfulness, worthiness? Pick a single intention for the upcoming cycle and this will be your focus. The goal is to pour more of your energy into this feeling. What you focus on expands. Where thoughts go, energy flows.

Nourish your intention daily.
Cultivate your intention daily with the power of your conscious focus starting on the New Moon of that cycle. What you focus on expands. Where thoughts go, energy flows. Implement daily energy play exercises (meditation, dance, prayer, daydreaming, journaling) to pay more attention to your intention. Practice directing your conscious focus to the energy you want to expand in your life. Research shows that it takes ~21 days to establish a new habit. If you successfully grow your intention every day, you'll establish a new internal state.

Measure your growth and practice!
Watch your life change and measure your growth. By the end of the cycle, look back over the last several weeks and ask yourself how your internal experience improved. Don’t measure this by external results (though physical manifestation could always and will be a happy consequence of this process, depending on how much you shift your energy). Measure your internal results. Do you feel wealthier or more worthy? Was life more fun for you? It’s because you made it so. Then, keep practicing! Pick a new intention to build on for the next cycle.
